Avoiding Plumbing Disasters

There are many things in the home that involve plumbing. Homeowners frequently do not recognise when there is a potential problem. This may often be because plumbing goes deep into the walls and under the ground. Plumbing, like any other part of a home, needs to be tended to regularly. Otherwise, the potential for leaks rises. Leaks are a big danger to the integrity of your home’s structure. There are a few things you can look out for to catch problems before they become too big.

Faucets

Your faucets take a lot of wear and tear. Bathtub and shower faucets may begin to drip. There is an internal cartridge that needs to be replaced in some models. In others, the entire faucet needs to be replaced. A small drip may turn into flowing water quickly. Faucets and shower heads may also become loose at the wall. Loose faucets may leak water into the wall, not just onto a counter. This can cause unhealthy mould to grow. Call for repairs at the first sign of a damaged faucet.

Water Bill

When there is a leak in the wall or on the ground, it may not be noticed right away. It is important to keep an eye on your water bill. If you see a drastic change in the price, it may be time to call someone out to inspect the pipes. The water company can easily check if there is a leak before you call the plumber to find it.  Look out for some warning signs for when you need to look for plumbers in BS9.

  • Toilets that constantly run
  • Drips from faucets
  • Wet patches in the yard

Plumbers are an important resource for household maintenance. Repairs that are done early, when small issues are found, can save you money on damages. Call for help at the first sign of trouble.
